Four family members has reportedly died after eating amala and okro soup in Mopa Muro LGA of Kogi State.
It is not clear yet what led to their mysterious deaths, but reports gathered so far linked their deaths to the amala.
The victims which include a father, his two daughters and another girl who is a close relative died in quick succession from Friday, September 30 to Sunday, October 2, 2022.
The family is said to have prepared the amala from a leftover cassava which was previously used to make fufu, after which they spread it outside to sun-dry for some days. It was subsequently ground into powder and was used to make the amala which they ate with okro soup before going to bed.
Their mother, however, is still in critical condition in the hospital, as Police investigations are still on.
Members of the community have suspended their burials, as they believe there has been foul play in their deaths and so must carry out due investigations to know what killed them.
