The National Working Committee (NWC) members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have returned campaign funds that were alleged to be missing.
According to reports by Yusuf Alli in THE NATION newspaper on September 26, 2022, an article titled “Disquiet in PDP NWC over N10 billion nomination fees” which alleged PDP NWC members of financial misappropriation was published.
However, the NWC members, who denied knowledge of any sort of misappropriation of funds, stated in their various letters directed to the National Chairman and National treasurer of the PDP that the confirmation of their credited accounts came as a shock to them.
Some of the members who returned the money found in their accounts were the South/South National Vice Chairman, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, the National Vice Chairman of the Southwest, Hon Olasoji Adanugodo, the National Woman Leader, Prof. Stella Effah-Attoe, and the DNC South, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.
While Chief Orbih, Hon Adanugodo and the Woman Leader returned the sum of N28,800,000 each, Ambassador Arapaja returned the sum of N36,000,000.
Upon return, they nullified the allegations on misappropriating the party’s N15 billion Naira.
