A man have been arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter in Ogun State.

Men of the Ogun State Police Command arrested the 40-year-old, Taofeek Sulaimam in Ogun State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.

He said the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Owode-Yewa police divisional headquarters by the mother of the victim, who reported that she got married to the suspect after the demise of her first husband, who was the victim’s father.

Oyeyemi said the woman disclosed that her daughter informed her that the suspect had been having sex with her daughter since October 14, 2022, and that he threatened to kill her if she reported to anyone.

The statement read, “Upon the report, the DPO, Owode Yewa division, CSP Muhammed Baba, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene where the randy stepfather was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, but blamed it on the devil’s handiwork.

“The victim was taken to the Idiroko General Hospital by the police for medical attention.”
