The Upper Echelon of the National Assembly has considered the bill seeking to sack the Board Chairman of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
In a fresh bill sponsored by Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, which contains the reduction in Emefiele’s authority and position, he will no longer be in charge of approving salaries, allowances or board members.
The bill was passed despite the push for its cancellation by some senators.
However, the Senate has reached a resolution that whoever will succeed Emefiele as the new Board Chairman will operate as a neutral entity.
