JUST IN: Again, ASUU Meets FG Next Week, Likely to Suspend Strike

The National President of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) Prof Osodeke Emmanuel has hinted that the Union will be meeting with the Federal Government for the second time this month by next week.

The President who spoke with a correspondent of Satellite News over the phone, expressed dissatisfaction over the unserious manner FG has been handling the issue of the Academic Lecturers Strike.

He was of good faith that the next week meeting will yield positive result.

When asked if the Union is serious with it’s decision of abandoning unfinished academic session if FG fails to Pay salary backlog, the president Said, “Is it wrong? When Government decides not to pay you and follow you with threats, what else would you do? Whenever strike is suspended, we will make sure the backlog of work we have is cleared before beginning a new one so why won’t they pay us?”

The President went on to say that the Students are suffering and so are the Lectures.
