The lingering crisis in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), seems to be worsening as the day goes by.
A southwest group has drummed support for Governor Nyesom Wike and his team, and has pushed further to seek the replacement of the party’s national chairman, Iyorcha Ayu.
The group believes that Ayu’s resignation is no big deal, and will restore sanity, confidence, inclusiveness and oneness in the party, as stated by Mrs. Banji Okunomo and Taofik Gani, who are the former publicity secretaries of Ondo and Lagos States respectively.
“Nigerians are indeed awaiting the PDP as the actual potent alternative government, and God forbids, if this opportunity skips us, Nigerians may never again associate with the PDP. “We call for immediate restoration of sanity, confidence, inclusiveness and oneness in the Party as a stitch in time saves nine”, they stated.
They went ahead to blame the leadership of the PDP under Ayu for making a wrong choice by choosing Atiku as the flagbearer.
They further asked Ayu to be a hero of PDP’s democracy by sacrificing his position, instead of “clogging the party’s wheel of progress and creating an avoidable crisis for the party.
“We wish to affirm our support for the position being canvassed by Gov. Seyi Makinde, corroborated by the doggedness of Wike ‘as a lasting panacea for peace and eventual victory of our party” they declared.
