The National Universities Commission (NUC) has in a release, invited all Pro-Chancellors and Chairmen of Council, all Vice Chancellors and Federal Universities to an interactive meeting with the Honorable Minister of Education on Tuesday, 6th September 2022.

It is no longer news that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on a Nationwide Strike which has continued to linger despite the negotiations with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The NUC has therefore deemed this meeting necessary as other Non-teaching Unions have since suspended their Industrial Action, while ASUU’s has remained indecisive.

“It has become necessary for the Governing Councils and the Managements of Universities to be briefed on the decisions and actions taken by the Federal Government so far, to allow for a well coordinated review of the situation, including building concensus around the succeeding actions”, the commission stated.
