The Anambra State Government, in a release issued on September 29, 2022, has suspended all tricycle (Keke) and shuttle bus unions in the state.
The suspension which came as a result of breakdown of law and order by entities such as touts and cultists who claim to be appropriate authorities, will last for six months, and this period will be used to forestall the breakdown of law and order.
However, the government issued convenient payment options for Keke and shuttle bus drivers, thus:
✓Keke Drivers Can Now Pay N4000 Weekly Or N15000 Monthly.
✓Shuttle Buses, Pick-up Trucks And Mini Trucks Can Now Pay N5000 Weekly Or N20000 Monthly.
✓Interstate Vehicle Operators Can Now Pay N6250 Weekly Or N25000 Monthly.
✓Compliant Drivers Qualify To Free Health Care Insurance Services.
✓Any Body Or Group Involved In Any Form Of Unionism Or Trying To Mobilize Keke Or Bus Drivers Will Be Prosecuted.
✓All Former Touts Advised To Register In Their LGA Headquarters For Skill Acquisition Training.
